Rangers Face Devils in Pre-Season Opener

The Rangers are back on the ice at The Garden tonight, against the New Jersey Devils; it’s the first of six pre-season games before they open the 2015-16 season Wednesday October 7th in Chicago against the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks.

The Rangers’ preseason schedule:

Tonight vs New Jersey

Tomorrow at Philadelphia

Thursday 9/24 at Boston

Saturday 9/26 at New Jersey

Monday 9/28 vs Philadelphia

Wednesday 9/30 vs Boston

Among the many storylines to watch, as the team gets ready for the new season, here are two key ones:

Who will back up Henrik Lundqvist? Antti Raanta and Magnus Helberg are both expected to see some action both tonight and tomorrow. According to coach Alain Vigneault, Lundqvist will probably not play until Thursday’s game at Boston.

How will Mats Zuccarello look? After missing most of the post-season with a concussion, he has had a long road to recovery, but has been deemed 100%. He is not listed on the 20-man roster for tonight’s game, however, but that should not be seen as an indication of his readiness for the season.
